Il commence sa
carrière comme annonceur de la AWA.
Il loupe une audition a la World Wrestling Fédération en juin 1990. Il joint alors la World Championship Wrestling en 1993, il devient alors annonceur pour Nitro en 1995. En 1994, il devient le boss de la WCW, et Ted Turner lui donne tous ses pouvoir. Il signe Scott Hall et Kevin Nash qui était a la World Wrestling Fédération en 1996. Hall et Nash forme alors la nWo. En 1999, Bischoff se fait viré de la WCW en septembre 1999. En 2000, il est a nouveau réengagé, et s'associe a Vince Russo pour formé une nouvelle équipe créative. Après la fermeture de la WCW, il devient Vice Président du Développement de Digital Artisans Guild's MatRats en avril 2001. En 2002, il se fait engagé par Vince Mc Mahon a la WWE, et sera
